Primary School Pilot Program

Join our other schools to help us improve IrishHomework.ie

We work closely with primary schools to help make IrishHomework.ie into the platform they need.

If you would like to help by volunteering a class from your school to join our pilot program please get in touch with our school liaison who will outline what we do and setup up an initial meeting.

For a new school wishing to join IrishHomework.ie we usually visit the school to meet the principal and the teacher conducting the Pilot.
We spend about 30 mins explaining how to get the best from our site and how the implementation works in practice.
We then follow up a couple of days later with a short meeting with the class to explain what the students should expect and what they might give us in return in terms of feedback. This usually serves to motivate the students to give it a fair go.

Why two meetings on separate days?
Experience has shown us that a teacher will need a couple of days to become comfortable with our site. They can then support the students from day one. So everyone can hit the ground running.

After the initial learning curve, a pattern usually emerges of three 10 min sessions as homework (Mon,Wed,Thur), where the student learns the material, interspersed with three 10 minute sessions (Tues,Thur,Fri) in class where the student can practice and activate the learned content.

Teachers Resources

For flipped classroom support

Resource page

This is the most important idea, and perhaps the hardest part to understand about what IrishHomework.ie is.
Our site allows students to enjoy learning each new lessons at home. By themselves. At their own speed. With all the help right there in front of them, just a hover away.
This allows you to facillitate speaking practice during class, instead of teaching the new content.
This means you will have more time to focus on difficult areas, or on individual students.
Our teacher dashboard means you will easily understand exactly where each student is with their Irish. Which means you can support them better.
Because this method is so efficient at getting students with Irish as a language you will find more and more time becomes available to improve your flipped teaching/facilitating techniques.

These teacher resources give you some tools to help make this happen

Parents Pilot Notice Template

Some schools like to enlist the parents support by sending a letter home explaining what the pilot is about.

The Sign Up process

Our sign up process is easy and intuitive.

Teachers can assign students to their class, if the student already has an account. Or the teacher can create an account for the student if that is preferred.

The earlier the teacher signs up the smoother the process will be, as they can help out any student who might input incorrect details.
